Bhutan is fully reopened from 23rd September, 2022 without quarantine requirment

The Kingdom of Bhutan fully reopened its borders to tourists on 23rd September 2022 with a renewed focus on sustainability.

Bhutan increases Sustainable Development Fee

Effective from 20 June 2022, Bhutan raised the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) from USD65 per night per person to USD200 which will go towards activities that promote carbon-neutral tourism and building a more sustainable tourism sector.

The Royal Government of Bhutan is putting in place every measure necessary to safeguard the people of Bhutan and visitors from the COVID-19. As of August 15th 2022, Bhutan recorded 609,779 positive cases out of which 60,699 have fully recovered. So far Bhutan recorded 21 death. The local residents are well aware of health and safety measures put in place. More than 90% of the population are fully vaccinated with booster shots as well.

  • Do I have to quarantine upon arriving in Bhutan?

    Starting from September 23, 2022 quarantine will be lifted to all those who are fully vaccinated. You will have to produce a certificate of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination.

  • What are the procedures upon arrival at the airport?
    • Pre-departure negative RT-PCR test NOT required as of November 2022
    • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required
    • Show your e-Visa letter at the immigration counter. We will arrange your e-Visa within 3-4 business days. Your Visa will be stamped on your passport
    • Travellers with signs and symptoms will be tested at the airport.
  • Can I postpone my trip and what options do I have?

    We understand that sometimes things don't go according to plan. We remain fully committed to offering flexible departure dates to suit your travel plans. Tour once booked can be postponed to any future date with the option to rebook or change tour without any fees. You also have 30 days before the departure to receive a full refund should you decide to cancel the trip.

  • Can I change my tour after it has been postponed?

    We remain fully committed to being flexible and offering a wide range of options. We can discuss together to amend the existing itinerary or change to a different tour. The price of the new tour may change depending on the duration and season.

  • What health and safety measures are being taken to minimize the chances of getting infected?

    As of now, there are no strict measures being taken but all the visitors are expected to follow the generic preventive measures at all times. If you have any signs and symptoms of COVID-19, please visit the nearest clinic.

  • What happens if I test positive during the tour?

    If you show any severe signs and symptoms of COVID-19, you have to take a test. In case you test positive, you may be moved to an isolation facility for further care and support. It is mandatory to have travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage. We are required to submit your insurance certificate along with other relevant documents while applying for the visa.

  • What if something happens during the tour?

    Your safety and comfort are our priority. Our guides are trained to respond to and manage emergencies if they arise, from personal health concerns to injuries. If necessary, they can mobilize additional support.

  • What happens if the border gets closed?

    If the border gets closed due to travel restrictions imposed by the Royal Government of Bhutan, we will immediately work with you to offer rebooking options. Should you decide to cancel the trip, you will get a 100% refund including the visa fee.
